Is Credit Monitoring Service Worth It?

A client recently asked about her credit monitoring service and is the identify theft insurance worth the $12.95 monthly fee.  For most of us, I don’t think the service is worth it – and that’s coming from someone who has had a family member who’s been affected by identity theft twice! If you actively watch your cards and bank balances you should be fine. Then invest/save the $12.95 monthly. You can always set fraud alerts with the 3 separate credit agencies (we’ve done so- its free) and run a free credit report every few months from annualcreditreport.com.

With that being said, if you are super nervous about identity theft, then perhaps it is money well spent for you.
